In the exhibition Lemuria, Germain Marengo and Denzel Veerkamp display the result of their collaboration around Surinamese spiritualism. The artists present a combination of fashion, art installations and digital elements that tell their story and embody their shared vision. The works are a reflection on shared history, and serves as a projection of where they want to go – both as artists and as individuals.

Germain and Denzel have now been working together on this project for almost two years. After getting to know and explore each other’s practices and interests, they have found a way to bring their personal worlds together. Both are driven by a passion for culture, history and innovation, with a focus on how these elements can reinforce and renew each other.

Denzel’s work focuses on fashion as a vehicle for storytelling, often with a focus on heritage and identity. Germain’s work is deeply rooted in exploring digital and physical space. Their shared approach to art is grounded in these themes, but also in the way they bring together technology and traditional techniques to powerfully convey their message.
