Rudy de Gruyl is a philosopher, collector, and painter, who works at Outsider Art Galerie in Amsterdam. He isn’t shy of using colour and has had several thematic phases in his work: aliens, animals, nude studies, TV shows, fruit, and typography. He and jewellery designer Benedikt Fischer have quite a few things in common: they both enjoy smoking rollies, male buttocks and finding treasures in the streets. Benedikt graduated at the Rietveld Academy and the jewellery he crafted from shells and his banana-shaped candleholders have been an international hit. Their intense collaboration resulted in a series of colourful homo-erotic jewellery pieces that they presented on furniture of their own design.
